Military Halloween

One thing about living on a military base, there is no shortage of kids. We spent about seventy five dollars on candy and had about 200 kids. We ran out of candy with half an hour left to go on trick or treat time. (Yes, on bases the military determines when trick or treating will happen.) Trick or treating was from 6 pm to 8 pm.

I can't complain though we love giving out candy and its better than having no kids.

Wow! That must have been a ton of candy. We don't get a lot of trick or treaters in my neighborhood, so I usually end up with leftovers. Which I don't need. So I buy yucky stuff to give out.

This Halloween I had exactly two groups of about four kids each, and it's been about the same the other two years since I've moved to my present address. One set of kids seems to show up right near the trick-or-treat equivalent of last call, and they end up with the lion's share of stuff.

Over here, the city sets the trick or treat time, and it's the same as y'alls (6:00 to 8:00pm)...I guess though, in military terminology, that'd be 1800-2000 (my dad was a career military officer--we never lived on-base, but I sure remember going TO the base for shopping, doctor/dentist appointments, the swimming pool, and so on).
